It’s less than two weeks since we launched our construction site marketing activities and opened the BBI Infotower, and already the run on our site has been tremendous. The four daily tours are usually fully booked. Groups of schoolchildren thirsting for knowledge, politicians filled with wonder and inquisitive tourists are all part of the colourful mix of visitors we see here. I am often up in the tower saying hello to people, not least because I love the view. The latest highlight you can see from there is the negative imprint of the future BBI terminal. You see, the soil has been taken away on the spot where the terminal will one day stand, in preparation for the basic structural work that is due to start in 2008. So what you can see at the moment is a kind of layout plan of the building as well as the imprints for the passenger bridges. The future is almost close enough to touch! By the way, if you take a look through the 3D telescope on the Infotower roof, you will see a computer animation of how the finished terminal should look when it is finally opened in 2011. But Berlin is naturally much closer than the future. From the Infotower it seems just a stone’s throw away. If you look northwards, you can see the Television Tower and Alexander Platz. Now, if that’s not a sight worth seeing, I don’t know what is!
