It's Christmas. You could say, year after year. Or maybe not? My girlfriend Antonia said to me this morning: "Darling, let's not buy each other presents this year." Naturally I was speechless, hardly believing my ears. Is this some sort of bad joke? A test? It would, of course, suit me fine, as I haven't actually bought her anything yet. But what happens if she really has bought me something – which I'm assuming she has – and I'm standing there empty handed on Christmas Day? Unthinkable! I better dash out and buy her something. Best be on the safe side. After all, it would be a miracle if this Christmas were stress free. Even ants aren't immune to it.
Christmas is also a good time to reflect on the year gone by. The first major highlight of the year was the unveiling of my humble self. I started my job as a "building spokesman" in April. Since then, I've been flitting across the construction site making sure work on the new airport is going smoothly. We also started working on the BBI Infotower in April. In June we were paid a visit by over 1,700 marathon runners, who ran over the construction site for the 2nd AirportRUN. In July, work started on constructing the BBI railway station. In August we celebrated the first year of construction work on BBI with an on-site event. And in November we opened our BBI Infotower and started marketing our construction site. We now run four guided tours a day, which are almost always fully booked. Have I forgotten anything? Probably. There's that much happening on such a large construction site. After all, it's the biggest and most significant in the German capital region. Anyway, those were my highlights of 2007. Expectations are therefore running high for 2008. So here's to a Happy New Year!
