Dear People,
Today is a day for celebration! No, it's not my birthday, but it is something similar. I'm celebrating my first anniversary. Yes, it's hard to believe but I have now been working as a foreman on the BBI construction site and keeping you up to date with my site diary for a whole year. Yet it seems like only yesterday that I applied for a job on the construction site of our new Capital City Airport. I was really keen to be a part of it, a part of the most exciting construction project in Berlin-Brandenburg since Potsdam Square.
Tramping nervously across the muddy Brandenburg landscape on the way to my interview, there wasn't much of the airport yet to be seen. The site roads had just been laid, the central concrete mixing plant just completed. Today everything looks very different. At the moment we have hundreds of companies working for us, a work force of more than a thousand seeing to it that the airport grows day by day. Altogether contracts to the tune of 850 million euros have been awarded so far and almost 90 per cent of that money is staying in Berlin and Brandenburg.
Antonia has also invested in Brandenburg for my first anniversary – we're having fresh asparagus from Beelitz today. And any minute now, we're off on a tour in a rented excavator. Once round the site in a piece of heavy machinery – a dream come true!
Yours,
Armin
