Great Crush at the Infotower

Yesterday was actually my day off, but I definitely wasn't planning to miss the opening of the Infotower to all visitors.

I'm a huge airport fan, but all the same, even I hadn't expected such crowds. There was more coming and going than in the busiest anthill. By the afternoon alone, 800 people had visited the 32-metre observation tower. By the way, you don't have to climb the spiral staircase to get to the top. There's a lift, as well. And visitors interested in finding out more about the construction of the BBI can simply hire an audio guide to have all the details poured straight into their ear.

The tower itself is also well worth a look. The Berlin architects Kusus+Kusus built the basic triangular structure that looks different from every angle. The outer shell is made of a transparent membrane and illuminated in different colours at night.

For those of you who would like to take a look for yourselves, the tower is open daily from 10am to 6pm and admission costs two euros or one euro, reduced. To get there, take the motorway exit Walterdorf/BBI-Baustelle.
