I’ve been on the road, as they say in rock music circles, for four days now. And as I’m a bit of a musician myself, I know all about that. I love the feeling of being surrounded by people eagerly asking questions and now again having to give an autograph. So far, I haven’t quite managed that with my music.

But that’s probably because I’m not on tour with Armin & the Ants, my amateur group, but with the BBI. We were in Potsdam first, now we’re off to Cottbus.

Things get going on Friday at 12 noon in Altmarkt, the old market square. Lord Mayor Frank Szymanski (SPD) and Martina Münch (SPD), a Brandenburg MP, are coming and we’ll be holding discussions and competitions. The lucky winners stand to win a free flight or a fascinating tour of the BBI construction site.

We want to tell everyone here all about our Capital City Airport. You see, the BBI is not just of interest to the people of Cottbus, and Brandenburg generally, as a handy airport for flying away on holiday, but also as a place of work. Even now, before it opens in 2011, the BBI is providing jobs for many thousands of people.

If I’m honest, though, what I am already missing on the tour is my girlfriend, Antonia. Luckily, she’s coming to see me at the weekend. Then we can discover Cottbus together – after Cottbus has discovered the BBI.
