Now and again my girlfriend Antonia accuses me of professorial manners. I don't know why. “Stop lecturing, will you,” she might say when I'm telling her all the latest figures that mark our progress on the BBI construction site. Odd.

But now we really are going into the lecture theatre. Yes, you read that right. The BBI is off to university. BBI Campus is the name of the university project that has just begun. “Then at last you'll have the chance to go on and on about the BBI to your heart's content,” said Antonia, when I told her about it.

But naturally the point of the exercise is not to bore the students with endless figures but to fire their enthusiasm for Europe 's biggest airport project. And to give them an insight into the working world at and around the future Capital City Airport BBI.

What's more, students attending the lectures can benefit direct from the knowledge and experiences the airport and aviation experts pass on. In the current winter term, BBI Campus comprises a series of four lectures. The first was given by Dr Rainer Schwarz, CEO of Berlin Airports and the next will be held by Dr Norbert Minhorst, head of Non Aviation Management at Berlin Airports on 18 November.

“I'll tell you how it was,” I told Antonia enthusiastically. I presume she's already looking forward to that.

Students can sign up for the lectures without any great formalities at bbi-campus@berlin-airport.de . For more information about BBI Campus, please visit the Berlin Airports homepage at www.berlin-airport.de .
