My skin colour is actually a fresh, healthy blue, but every time someone asks me for an autograph I turn a deep purple. “Armin, you go beautifully with my aubergine patent shoes,” Antonia laughed, planting a kiss on my cheek the first time she saw me clumsily signing a little boy's exercise book with my pencil.

Giving autographs is something I'm not used to. I'm only Armin, the foreman, after all. Without my workmates, I would be nothing. Okay, I do like to talk at great length about what goes on on our construction site, but we are all building the BBI for the people of Berlin and Brandenburg , and for all the travellers, too. But it is also a sign of how much the people of the region are looking forward to their new airport in the capital-city region.

Because it would be impossible for me to give every visitor an autograph, our technical people have come up with a good idea. When the people who come to our BBI Infotower switch their mobile phones to Bluetooth mode, an original picture of me immediately appears on their display. Me, leaning on my spade. Antonia took the photo. And the hotline where you can book a tour of the site appears with it. And anyone who then really does bump into me in person naturally also gets a genuine autograph.
