Strom, Wärme und Kälte für den BBI

I’m not one to let my temper be spoiled easily. But it is annoying to come home after a long day’s work to find you have no electricity. Inside our anthill, the lights didn’t come on at all last night, I had to do without my beloved warm honeydew – and I also missed my favourite film Antz

But one thing I can guarantee is that nothing like that will not happen at the future BBI Airport! That’s because there will be three new E.ON edis power stations to supply the BBI with electricity, heat, air conditioning and emergency power. We held the topping-out ceremony on the construction site this lunchtime. Even Brandenburg’s Prime Minister Matthias Platzeck came along and praised my co-workers efforts in glowing tones. By next year, we should have completed this project

It’s amazing the colossal amount of electricity the power stations will be able to generate in a year: roughly 60 gigawatt hours! That’s enough to supply a small town with a population of 20,000. The BBI will need up to as much as 80 gigawatt hours a year for heating in future. That’s easily enough to keep 12,000 homes cosy and warm. As you can see, the outlook is warm and comforting and at the new airport I will neither have to suffer from the cold nor creep about in the dark.
