As you know, I’ve really had my hands full this week with the anniversary celebrations for our 1000th day of work on site – and my darling Antonia is already starting to grumble about never seeing me, but I’m afraid she’ll just have to put up with it. After all, I am responsible for making sure that everything runs smoothly here. I’m actually on site more or less round the clock these days, but yesterday I had to slip away for a bit – to a press conference at an old people’s home. And no, it had nothing to do with my Gran, it was about our airport neighbours in Selchow. They are particularly important to us because now that Diepensee has been relocated, Selchow is the new airport village.

At the old people’s home in Selchow, we announced our intention to launch our noise control programme for private households before the month is out. Over the next few days, 100 households in Selchow will receive their cost-refund agreements and then installation of soundproof windows can begin.

So not only is the face of the BBI at last taking shape, but the measures we have introduced to protect nearby residents will soon also be producing visible and audible results.
