The year is barely two weeks old and already I’ve broken all my New Year’s resolutions. One of them was to spend more time with my girlfriend, Antonia. But so far – despite the onset of winter – I’ve spent more time on the construction site than in our anthill. Justifiably so, though, because there’s plenty of work for my four ant’s hands to do, preparing for the opening of the BBI next year.
Once the current cold snap is over, we have the next highlight to look forward to: the topping-out ceremony for the terminal building this coming spring. We will be inviting all the companies who had a hand in the terminal’s construction as well as the local residents. What a party that’s going to be! I am proud to be able to present at last what we have been working so hard on since the first sod was turned in 2006.
But that’s not all! This year we will be starting up a whole array of airport services for the BBI. These include the fire station, the special equipment building and the winter road maintenance and ground traffic services. So it doesn’t look like boredom is going to be a problem for us! I just need to come up with something to keep my Antonia happy.
