For the past few days I have been completely and utterly electrified. There are two reasons for this: first, the Germany and Australia World Cup match was so incredible my world has been black, red and gold – the colours of the German flag – ever since. Much to the disgruntlement of my friend, Antonia, I have redecorated our anthill in these colours to honour the lads in South Africa.

The second reason for being completely electrified is the start of the trial operation of the BBI power stations, which are operated by E.ON edis. Following the symbolic press of a button, the 3,000 HP diesel generator has been humming busily on the BBI site since last Monday.

A total of three new power stations will be supplying BBI with power, heat and cooling energy. The thought of how much electricity they can produce a year is simply mind-blowing! It’s enough to power a small town with around 20,000 inhabitants. All very exciting – almost as exciting as the prospect of tomorrow’s Germany vs. Serbia match!
