I dropped off on the sofa again last night while watching my favourite film, Antz – probably because I already know it inside out. This morning I woke up with backache, which is hardly surprising. After all, as you make your bed, so you lie in it, as the saying goes.

I’m pretty sure that wouldn’t happen to me at the new airport hotel. A first-class, four-star superior hotel with all the trimmings, it is due to open right on the doorstep of the BBI in 2012 – just a two-minute walk from the terminal. It is currently being built by the Hamburg project developer ECE and will be operated by the Steigenberger Hotels AG group. The hotel will belong to the Airport City complex, the modern service centre opposite to the terminal.

The hotel will have 322 rooms, including 27 suites and fully equipped conference and event facilities, international catering and a spacious spa area.

And most important of all: Every room will have a television set. That means I could watch my favourite film from the comfort of my bed, doze off peacefully and wake up top fit next morning – without even the slightest twinge of backache.
