It’s not often, but occasionally I just have to let fly. Not quite as you may think however! What I mean is that I let a helicopter fly me over the BBI construction site a few days ago. And I can tell you now, what I saw was spectacular.

For work is still progressing nicely, even in winter. And visitors can see it too, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day from the BBI Infotower. Incidentally, a special winter promotion is being held up until 27 March, enabling visitors to the Infotower to go on a guided bus tour of the construction site at a discount price, if they book within four weeks of their visit.

But back to the flight: if you look at the new airport from the south-west, you can see the new runway on the right. It’s actually marked with a cross to prevent pilots from accidentally landing on it. Pieces of the new jetways on the main and south pier are also clearly visible. And you can currently see the cranes on the site where the future Airport City is being built – which will include a hotel, office complex, car hire centre and four multi-storey car parks.
