You should have seen their faces. Big, inquisitive eyes. Looks of amazement. More than 2,000 youngsters flocked to yesterday’s Training Fair at Schoenefeld Airport, to find out all about future jobs in and around the airport.
What kind of jobs? Well, the girls are mostly into traditional occupations that require training, e.g. an air transport or hotel clerk. And as expected, the boys are mainly interested in training to become an aircraft mechanic or system informatics technician.
The pupils certainly should take an interest in such jobs, as one thing’s for sure next year: Berlin Brandenburg Airport (Willy Brandt) will be the region’s biggest employer with around 20,000 employees.
And if that weren’t enough, countless firms in the region are also training youngsters for the jobs of tomorrow. Rolls-Royce Germany is on board, as is airberlin, the federal police, Holiday Inn, Marché and Intercity Hotel, plus many more.
Incidentally, the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau and the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus are also offering entry into the world of aviation with a range of courses in this field, e.g. aeronautics/aviation logistics.
