New Year, New Name
5 January 2012

The new year usually begins with good resolutions and goals. Mine started with a new name for the company formerly known as “Berlin Airports”. As of 1 January 2012, my employer is officially called Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg (FBB), so the days of the good old Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld GmbH (FBS) are now over.

Anyone receiving snail mail from FBB will now find it comes in the new FBB layout and with the new FBB letterhead. Renaming the airport operator from FBS to FBB is a further step on the way to the new Berlin airport, BER. As you can see, progress is not only being made on the construction site; there are quite a few changes on paper and in the corporate design of the airport, too.

In a nutshell: when flying to and from Berlin, you need only remember two codes from now on: BER and FBB. BER is the airport code that will be stuck onto every suitcase flying to Berlin. And FBB stands for the airport operating company and all its hard-working employees – including my humble self in my capacity as construction site spokesman.
