Foreign Object Detection (FOD) on Runways
MATNET-Workshop Foreign Object Detection (FOD) on Runways , July 12, 2011.
Foreign object detection is of major concern for airport operators. Undetected they may have fatal consequences such as the crash of the Concorde in 2000 in Paris. The US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) requires from any automated FOD-system the detection of objects sizes down to 2 cm. This is a very demanding challenge. The workshop investigates technologies, which might have the potential to solve this problem.
The presentations are available in German only.
