Summer slump? What’s that? We certainly haven’t noticed one here on the site so far. Quite the opposite, in fact. Hardly have we completed the first phase of construction on the BBI station and started work on the passenger terminal and already there’s something else lined up for me.

Something I have to pack a case for. “Pack a case?” Antonia asks me. And the way she’s looking at me, she clearly thinks I’m going on holiday without her. But I can set her mind at rest because I’m not going on holiday. “I’m going on a tour,” I explain. “A summer tour.” Now she’s giving me a look that seems to imply that I may have caught too much sun on my trusty ant feelers.

But it’s true, I am going on a summer tour. Starting today and all the way through to September I will be travelling all over Brandenburg with a BBI exhibition. “But I will be coming home regularly in between,” I add to calm Antonia down. The idea of the BBI Summer Tour 2008 is for us to tell the people of the region, from Elsterland to Uckermark, all about the opportunities and the potential of the new Capital City Airport.

The BBI Infobus will be stopping in all the rural districts and towns . Everywhere we stop, there will be an opening event with guest politicians and businesspeople. Panel discussions and competitions with attractive prizes will provide an added incentive to visit the BBI Infobus and there will also be events to inform people about job opportunities at the BBI and in the region.

“I’ve got to go now,” I say to Antonia. We’re off to Potsdam, our first stop. Prime Minister Matthias Platzeck is already waiting for us there on the square in front of the Brandenburg Gate. He’s going to open the tour officially. See you soon. I’ll be in touch again from various stops along the BBI Summer Tour!
