We are on the road in our beautiful Brandenburg with the BBI Summer Tour 2008. A fire engine has just overtaken us with its siren weewaaing loudly. That set me thinking about my construction site back in Berlin, or, to be more specific, about the Nordmeyer DSB 2/7.

Normally it looks a little bit like a blue fire engine with a red ladder. But when it’s fully extended, it resembles a mobile oil tower. The Nordmeyer DSB 2/7 is a magnificent machine, a rotary drilling rig – a bit like the kind of drill you have at home, but the shape and size of a fire engine.

The DSB 2/7 is normally used in well sinking. Here on the construction site of our Capital City Airport, though, we’re not drilling in the Brandenburg sands for water but to test the subsoil. After all, we need to know exactly what we’re building on and the Nordmeyer is just right for taking a deep look into it.

The DSB 2/7 is a classic. First built in 1973, it features a round drilling mast with built-in hydraulic drill feed for which Nordmeyer in Peine holds a worldwide patent.
