I’ve been back sleeping in my own bed at home since yesterday – at least for a little while. Our summer tour is “playing at home” until tomorrow. At the moment, we’ve got our BBI bus parked outside the town hall in Luckenwalde, Teltow-Fläming. In other words, we’re just round the corner from the future Capital City Airport BBI and just round the corner from my anthill.

Teltow-Fläming is one of eight rural administrative districts in Brandenburg that border the capital in a star formation. But it is the only one to be elevated to the status of “Model Administrative District” by the Federal Chancellery.

That’s also how the research institute Prognos sees it and has repeatedly attested to the district’s excellent prospects. This is naturally partly to do with the proximity of the BBI. There are already lots of people from Teltow-Fläming working on the site today and several companies wishing to be near the airport are setting up here.

In Luckenwalde, though, biotechnology is chiefly the cause of all the positive headlines. That’s because of the technology and foundation centre here, which has more than 6,000 square metres of space and is becoming increasingly important for offices and laboratories in the biotech industry and their suppliers.

I think I’ll take a closer look at that later on.
