As I always say: you’ve got to make an effort to maintain good relations with your neighbours. That’s why I regularly invite Mrs Schmidt, my favourite neighbour, over for a glass of honeydew. Quite apart from the fact that she’s a lovely person, I also rely on her to empty my letterbox, feed the caterpillars and water my houseplants while I’m away on my hols in Majorca.

Maintaining a good relationship with your neighbours is essential if, like us, you live at an airport. We’re always ready to listen to our neighbours’ worries and concerns, suggestions and comments. Today saw the start of the Regional Dialogue Forum Airport Berlin Brandenburg and we’ve got a great team of people who are there to discuss how best to balance the interests of local residents and the airport.

The group includes mayors, councillors, airport coordinators, representatives of the states of Berlin and Brandenburg and, naturally, my boss. This illustrious circle will be keeping a watchful eye on things to make sure that the area around the new airport is developed sustainably and with everyone’s interests in mind. They’ll also be keeping a look-out to see that the building work the new airport doesn’t put an undue burden on local residents. Here’s to good neighbourliness!
