Fly with Lufthansa to Madeira, the island of flowersBerlin, 10.09.2012
On 8 September, Lufthansa started operating a weekly flight from Tegel to the Portuguese Atlantic island of Madeira. Flights depart from Tegel every Saturday at 12.25 p.m., landing 4.45 hours later at the island's capital airport Funchal. An Airbus A319 returns at 4.55 p.m., arriving in Tegel at 10.20 p.m.
The wide variety of flowers and plants on the 740 km2 island in the Atlantic Ocean make it a unique subtropical paradise. Wide valleys and steep cliffs create breathtaking views. The island is not only a paradise for hikers, who can explore the landscape along the levadas – centuries-old irrigation channels – but also an eldorado for divers. The likelihood of seeing barracudas, dolphins and rays is very high. On the small neighbouring island of Porto Santo, a 9 km long beach invites visitors to bathe and relax.
