On 3 July 2012, the new event grounds of the capital region were completed on schedule. Located right next to the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport, the Berlin Brandenburg ExpoCenter Airport is a multi-purpose exhibition and event area offering three permanent exhibition halls with more than 20,000 m2 of hall space, room for large-scale outdoor displays, as well as temporary exhibition buildings and service facilities.
Work has already begun on site to seamlessly construct the first buildings for the International Aerospace Exhibition. As this year's most important European event for the aerospace industry, the ILA 2012 will be held from 11–16 September. In January 2013, the new fashion show PANORAMA Berlin is set to premier at the Berlin Fashion Week.
The critical phase in building the ILA will begin in August 2012 when an exhibition city including all service and communication facilities will be built. The ExpoCenter Airport will then feature all ILA-related components such as permanent and temporary exhibition halls for the national and international aerospace industry, outdoor display areas for aircraft of all sizes and categories, exclusive chalet units for VIPs and delegations, its own ILA tower for event management, lots of service and restaurant facilities, as well as a conference centre with numerous conference rooms and a high-tech press centre.
