Passenger record at Schönefeld and Tegel: Berlin hits the 25-million mark
“Crossing the 25 million passenger threshold is an historic moment for the airport company. It means our system of airports is, for the first time, part of what is referred to as the “Group 1 Airports” of the world's major airports in the ACI industry association (Airports Council International),” explains Prof. Dr Rainer Schwarz, the airports' Chief Executive Officer.

Currently a total of 60 airlines fly to 133 destinations from Berlin's Schönefeld and Tegel airports. Several new destinations were also added in December 2012, with Condor flying from Schönefeld to Klagenfurt, Transavia France adding the Tegel to Nantes route to its schedule, and Lufthansa flying to Innsbruck from Tegel.

The outlook is very promising too: From January 2013, airberlin is adding Sofia and Bucharest to its network of destinations from Tegel. Furthermore, airberlin will begin flying to Madrid in February and then in March will be adding flights to Chicago and Warsaw. vueling will begin flying from Tegel to Florence, likewise in March. And in April, easyJet will be adding Edinburgh to its range of destinations from Schönefeld.
