Flight calibration at Tegel Airport

25.04.2014
Flugvermessung am Flughafen Tegel
The airspace above Tegel Airport may be busier than usual this coming Saturday, 26 April. The reason for this is that German Air Traffic Control will be inspecting and calibrating the technical systems that ensure safe aviation operations over Berlin. Tests will be carried out to check the precision and correct function of the instrument landing system (ILS). A special two-engine propeller plane (Beechcraft King Air 359) will be used to conduct these tests. Calibrating the air traffic safety equipment and systems is essential to maintain air traffic safety, and German Air Traffic Control apologises in advance for any disturbance caused by these unscheduled flights. Further calibration testing will take place on 10 and 24 May and on 14 June.
