With almost three thousand years of history, it is rich in exceptionally important and outstanding monuments and museums. In 1980, UNESCO added Rome’s historic centre, St Peter's Basilica and Vatican City to its list of World Heritage Sites. Tourists cherish the nightlife, fine boutiques and exquisite cuisine.
