Travel information for the start of the summer holidays10.07.2015
The start of the summer holidays in Berlin und Brandenburg on 16 July 2015 marks the beginning of the tourism high season at Schönefeld and Tegel Airports. As in previous years, both airports are expecting a high level of traffic. Even at the start of the holiday period (Thursday, 16 July to Sunday, 19 July) Schönefeld and Tegel Airports are already expecting some 2,600 flight movements with an anticipated 350,000 passengers. This represents a passenger growth of 4.4 per cent as compared to the start of the holidays in 2014. In 2015 the leading destination from Schönefeld and Tegel Airports is Spain, followed by Italy and Turkey.
- Passengers can get all important airport information for Schönefeld and Tegel as well as specific flight details via the “Berlin Airport” app. Passengers using Tegel Airport can also use a new service with the app. With the help of beacons – tiny Bluetooth transmitters – app users can receive push notifications with information to help them find their way around the airport and get the best out of the airport facilities.
Travelling to the airport: Due to the high traffic volumes all passengers are recommended to travel to the airport by public transport. In addition, they should plan more time for the journey to the airport and their stay at the airport.
Parking: For passengers travelling to the airport by their own car, Berlin-Schönefeld Airport offers them the option of reserving their parking space online, easily and conveniently. After completing the booking the user receives a QR code for access to the parking space.
Wi-Fi: Passengers and visitors to Schönefeld and Tegel Airports can now enjoy Internet access for 60 minutes free of charge. To use the service, users must first activate Wi-Fi reception on their mobile device and then select the network “Free Airport WiFi Telekom”.
