From today, 29 October 2015, passengers can discover the red city in southwestern Morocco with SunExpress, a subsidiary of Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines. A SunExpress flight will depart Berlin-Schönefeld for Marrakesh at 3:25am every Thursday. A 189-seater Boeing 737-800 will be operated on this route, which has a flight time of three and half hours.
Marrakesh has a spectacular old town, which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. Its nickname, “red city,” comes from the colours of the buildings there, which are all painted various shades of red, rose-pink and ochre. Marrakesh-Menara Airport is situated approximately four-and-a-half kilometres southwest of the city centre and easily accessible on public transport or by taxi.
