Useful tips for your summer holiday19.07.2016
The summer holidays are about to start, triggering the busiest travel period of the year. Both Schönefeld and Tegel Airports are expecting more traffic than usual, and passengers are advised to get the latest travel updates on their flight status and baggage restrictions either online or through the airport’s hotline before setting off for the airport. Passengers should also plan their arrival at the airport in time in order to enjoy a relaxing check-in for their flight. Many airlines offer a free online check-in service.
New baggage rules
Since April 2016, passengers are no longer allowed to carry lithium-ion batteries in their checked baggage. This also applies to electronic cigarettes. Batteries and electronic cigarettes may only be taken on board in hand luggage. Information about baggage rules and regulations can be found on the Berlin Airports website.
A new service: water for €1
Since 1 July 2016, the Heinemann Duty Free Shops behind security have started selling water in 0.5-litre tetra-packs for €1. The specially priced water is available at both airports, with the exception of Terminal A at Tegel.
Family room at Tegel
Passengers with infants and toddlers are invited to use the new family room at Tegel Airport prior to departure. Located in Terminal A (Level 0), the room is equipped with a nappy-changing table, a play area and a book corner. To access the family room, please contact the passenger information desk in Terminal A.
Play area at Tegel
Families travelling from Tegel Airport can also spend the time before departure enjoying the amenities of the children’s play area located behind security in Terminal C1.
Contact for lost baggage services
Passengers whose luggage has been lost or has been damaged in transit to Berlin can enter their flight number on the airport website and will receive the contact details of the handling agent responsible for handling the claim/search: http://www.berlin-airport.de/en/travellers-sxf/at-the-airport/luggage/baggage-tracing/index.php
