Passenger record 201617.01.2017
Almost 33 million passengers flew via Schönefeld and Tegel in 2016. In total 32,906,881 passengers passed through Berlin’s airports. That’s over three million passengers more than in 2015 (+11.4 %). This shows that Berlin-Brandenburg has grown stronger than the market for the fourteenth time in a row. A further increase in passenger numbers is expected for 2017.
The main reason for this result is strong passenger growth at Berlin-Schönefeld Airport. Here the number of passengers for the entire year grew by 36.7 % compared to the previous year. In fact, the ten millionth passenger was recorded at Schönefeld at the beginning of November. By the end of the year, around 11.6 million passengers had passed through. This means that Schönefeld overtook Stuttgart Airport for the first time and is now in the same league as Cologne/Bonn Airport.
