Old World Hanseatic City with Charm

17.05.2017

A fresh breeze greets visitors to Tallinn. The city, known until 1918 as the Hanseatic city of Reval, was one of the most heavily fortified cities on the Baltic during the Middle Ages. Today the historic Old Town stands as a prime example of a northern European, medieval trading city. In 1997, Tallinn’s Old Town with its impressive city walls and towers, was declared a UNESCO world heritage site. Visitors can wander through its 700 year old lanes and cobblestones. The Hanseatic city’s medieval history is still very much alive. With its medieval market, musicians and dancers and a parade, the Estonian capital with its wonderful Old Town opens its doors to the world between 6th to 9th July 2017.
