Qatar Airways is to expand capacity on the Berlin Tegel to Doha route and shall be putting a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft into action. In this way, the airline is responding to increased demand and is seeking to increase travelling comfort in the process. Passengers of the airline can take advantage of a variety of connections through the hub in Doha. It pays, however, not only to transit through, but to step out of the plane once there.

Qatar's capital, Doha, lies on the fringes of the desert, directly on the Persian Gulf. The city enraptures with tall towers and street canyons. A particularly interesting aside is the Cultural Village Katara, located on the coast in Doha's Northeast. It is there that an amphitheatre and magnificent mosque can be found. Though, these traditional structures are only a few years in the making. Indeed, they symbolise Qatar's heritage. Another place worthy of a detour is certainly the Museum of Islamic Art. Art going back more than a thousand years finds a home in the impressive construction by I.M. Pei. The museum is located on an artificial island complex in Doha's West Bay port area. Doha does not just do big, however. With over 100 years behind it, the Souq Waqif is the centrally located main marketplace of the city. From carpets to clothing, anything can be found here to fulfil one's heart's desire. What's more - there is even a falcon market! It certainly does pay to leave the plane once in Doha, and not just transit through.
