The central focus of the Berlin airports’ marketing activities is the so-called BBI Airport City between the two planned runways. Four to 12 variable development areas ranging in size between 4,500 and 23,000 square metres are planned on a site covering 16 hectares. Altogether, some 140,000 to 180,000 square metres of gross floor space are earmarked for office, hotel, gastronomy and retail use. The planners envisage buildings with four to six floors and a height of between 14 and 29 metres. Multistorey car parks and parking areas providing spaces for altogether some 7,500 cars are also planned.
The second development site is the BBI Business Park Berlin, formerly “Baufeld Ost”. The approx 109-hectare site offers opportunities for a wide range of applications, ranging from hotel use to large-scale industry depending on the location. Made-to-measure plots are available here in various different shapes and sizes from 2000 square metres upwards. The development planning procedure looks likely to be completed by the third quarter of 2007. The first construction phase will complete development of a 16-hectare area by mid-2008.
