New connections in Europe from Berlin/Berlin Airports on course for growth
With new travel destinations in the winter flight schedule, Berlin Airports are offering even more connections in Europe and thus strengthening their position as the third most important airport location after Frankfurt and Munich. The new winter flight schedule is effective from 29 October 2006.

"We are on course for growth and are set to achieve a new passenger record this year", says Dr Rainer Schwarz, CEO of Berlin Airports. Air Berlin and Germanwings will start operating flights to St Petersburg in Eastern Europe. As of 18 December 2006,

Air Berlin will fly to this destination from Tegel every Monday and Friday. As of 2 November 2006, Germanwings will fly to St Petersburg from Schönefeld every Thursday and Saturday. Starting on 18 December, Air Via will fly to an additional destination in Eastern Europe, namely Sofia, from Schönefeld on Mondays and Thursdays.

Take off for the southern sun with Air One's daily flights from Tegel to Milan Linate. Or make use of the winter flight schedule and fly with Blue Wings from Tegel to Istanbul (IST) on a Tuesday, Friday or Saturday. As of 1 February 2007, Clickair, the newly founded low-cost carrier of the Spanish airline Iberia, will operate a daily flight from Tegel to Barcelona.

Egyptair will increase its flight frequency to Cairo for the winter flight schedule and will operate two flights per week from Schönefeld to Egypt instead of one.

Those who fancy taking a trip to Northern Europe can fly from Schönefeld to Reykjavik on Mondays and Fridays. Iceland Express, Iceland's low-cost airline, will also offer direct flights to this destination for the first time in the winter season.

And it's off to Germany's neighbouring states Austria and Luxembourg with InterSky, which will operate flights from Tempelhof to Graz on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and with Luxair, which will operate additional flights on Saturdays from Berlin to Luxembourg starting on 4 November.
