Altogether 1,359,531 passengers were recorded at the Berlin Airports in the reporting month of December. This represents growth of 6 per cent compared with the same month of the previous year.
Schoenefeld Airport handled a total of 461,716 passengers in December. In a year-on-year comparison, that’s an increase of 15.6 per cent. Domestic scheduled traffic, with a volume of 111,267 passengers, was up by 32.8 per cent. International scheduled services carried 333,665 passengers to their destinations, which corresponds to an increase of 13.3 per cent.
Passenger volume in Tegel rose in the reporting month by 4.5 per cent to a total of 870,375 passengers. At 448,757, the number of passengers travelling on domestic flights was up by 1.4 per cent, while international scheduled flights reported 8.1 per cent more passengers totalling 404,044.
The number of passengers frequenting Tempelhof Airport in the reporting month fell sharply, with 27,440 passengers in all using the airport – 45.6 per cent fewer than in the corresponding period of the previous year. Passengers recorded on domestic connections were down 73.8 per cent at only 9,828. Passenger volume on international flights, on the other hand, was up 31.5 per cent to 14,899.
The total number of aircraft movements at all three Berlin Airports rose 1.4 per cent with 18,017 take-offs and landings.
Transshipment of air freight was up 1.8 per cent to 2,159 tonnes..
The volume of airmail shrank 33.2 per cent to 822 tonnes.
