Strong increase in traffic in Schoenefeld and Tegel /45 per cent decline in Tempelhof
In the reporting month of January, a total of 1,258,450 passengers were handled at Berlin Airports. This represents a year-on-year increase in air travellers of 6.3 per cent.

In January, Schoenefeld registered 421,341 passengers. This represents a 12.1 per cent increase on the same month last year. Regularly scheduled domestic traffic recorded a 24.1 per cent increase with 102,417 passengers. On regularly scheduled international routes, 302,421 passengers were transported. This results represents an increase of 11 per cent.

In January, 810,456 passengers were handled at Tegel Airport. This represents a year-on-year increase in passengers of 6.7 per cent. On domestic routes, traffic increased by 5.7 per cent with 437,767 passengers. 356,224 passengers were registered on regularly scheduled international routes. This represents an 8.1 per cent increase on the same month last year.

In the reporting month of January, 26,653 passengers were handled at Tempelhof Airport. This represents a 45.1 per cent decline. 9,805 passengers were registered on regularly scheduled domestic routes. This result represents a 72.7 per cent decline. On regularly scheduled international routes, traffic increased by 41.7 per cent with 15,072 passengers.

The total number of aircraft movements in January amounted to 18,182 take-offs and landings. This represents a 2.5 per cent increase on January 2006.

Air freight turnover increased by 2.4 per cent to 2,076 tons.

Airmail volume declined by 24.4 per cent to 789 tons.
