Over 1,500 runners at the AirportRUN 2007

27.06.2007
Just three days to go until the big run around the BBI / AirportRUN 2007 on 30 June 2007 for sports enthusiasts and airport fans / Last-minute registrations on site possible / Attractive supporting programme
The countdown to next Saturday begins, when the "2nd AirportRUN" around the BBI construction site starts! More than 1,500 participants have already registered for the 21.0975 km (13.1 miles) half-marathon.

The run starts in Berlin-Bohnsdorf, taking runners along the east side of Schoenefeld Airport, then heads south via a section of the new Capital Airport Berlin Brandenburg International BBI to Rotberg. Then it's back via Selchow and Waßmannsdorf to the finishing line at Schoenefeld Airport.

Traffic disruptions are anticipated around the BBI in the afternoon. The roads used by runners will be temporarily closed off during the AirportRUN. The B96a will be open to vehicles at all times, although there will be a short diversion near Waßmannsdorf, which will be signposted.

The event in South Berlin is geared towards both professional runners and power walkers. Last-minute registrations will be taken on site on the day of the event.

For all those who want to greet the participants at the finishing line or simply spend an entertaining Saturday afternoon at the airport, a stage show will be held at the finish with live music, a tombola and catering stands and attractions for children. The winners of the run are expected to receive their awards around 8.45 p.m. in the event grounds.

Visitors can also get to know the airport by tour bus. Registrations for this are taken on site at the BBI Infobus. For safety reasons, only a limited number of allocated places are available.
