Qatar Airways brings the 10-millionth passenger to the German capital / Passenger numbers continue to increase at Berlin Airports
Berlin Airports today welcomed its 10-millionth passenger.

Kerstin Soyka flew with Qatar Airways from Berlin-Tegel to Doha, Qatar.

Dr. Rainer Schwarz, CEO of Berlin Airports, congratulated the honoured passenger, who received a voucher for two flights from Berlin to Doha with Qatar Airways as a celebratory gift:

"Welcoming the 10-millionth passenger is an important milestone in the rapid development of the three Berlin Airports. In the first half of 2007 they recorded a strong year-on-year increase in traffic of over 7 per cent. Berlin has meanwhile established itself amongst the best German commercial airports. We aim to exceed the 19 million passenger mark by the end of this year."

Eugenio Manzano, Director of Qatar Airways in Germany, also offered his congratulations: "Qatar Airways has achieved extraordinary success here in Berlin and will continue to expand its range of offerings. We bring people from Greater Berlin via Doha directly and extremely comfortably to their long-haul destination. Our airline offers 77 destinations around the world in the Middle East, Africa, on the Indian subcontinent and in the Far East."

Flights have been operating between Berlin and Doha since December 2005. Since then, the demand for this connection has risen so sharply that Qatar Airways has had to double its capacities. A 250-seater Airbus A300-600 thus replaced the usual 110-seater Airbus A319 on this route in October 2006.

The majority of passengers use Doha as a hub for connections to further destinations, such as Bangkok, Shanghai, Peking, Singapore, Bombay or Jakarta, all of which are just a short journey away. Doha can also be used as a hub for journeys to South Africa, the Maldives and the Seychelles. The capital of Qatar is the only airport in the world to have its own First and Business Class Terminal for passengers.

Qatar Airways is one of only five airlines to have received a five-star rating, i.e. the maximum rating, in the renowned Skytrax ranking for quality and service. The state-of-the-art onboard entertainment system and the service-oriented staff were once again rewarded for their customer friendliness. Flights to Doha can be booked directly with the airline at www.qatarairways.com.
