Closure of the Southern Runway in Schoenefeld

Repair work will continue until 24 September 2007
The Brandenburg infrastructure ministry has approved Berlin Airports’ application to extend the closure of the Southern Runway at Schoenefeld Airport until 24 September 2007. The delay in the completion of the repair work was due to unforeseen additional work required to restore the runway. Originally, the runway was scheduled to reopen on 21 September 2007.

Berlin Airports apologises to all local residents affected by the unavoidable noise, particularly during the night. Once the runway reopens there will be a return to the airport’s customary policy of routing all night-time traffic between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. to the Southern Runway. The Northern Runway will be completely closed at the end of 2007.
