New service: three weekly flights from Schoenefeld to Bucharest
With the start of the new summer flight schedule 2008, Blue Air has added Berlin to the list of airports the carrier flies to. On 31 March 2008, the airline launched a thrice-weekly service from Berlin-Schoenefeld to Bucharest. Blue Air flies to Aurel Vlaicu International Airport, which is located only 10 kilometres from the city centre. It is the ideal place to start a city tour of the Rumanian capital city, which is renowned for its varied architecture and which is home to the Palace of the Parliament, the second-largest building in the world.

“After Brussels, Rome, Madrid, Paris, Lisbon and London, Berlin is the seventh European capital we fly to. Berlin is a cultural and creative centre and it attracts travellers from all across Europe. Bucharest is a city of culture and business, and its varied architecture and thriving economy bring tourists and businesspeople to Romania. I am confident that our new service from Bucharest to Berlin will meet with an enthusiastic reception,” said Florentina Ivan, Marketing & Sales Blue Air.

Blue Air flies Monday, Wednesday and Friday from Berlin to Bucharest. On Monday and Wednesday the flight departs at 16.45 hrs from Bucharest and arrives in Berlin-Schoenefeld at 18.00 hrs. The return flight leaves at 18.45 hrs from Berlin-Schoenefeld and touches down in Bucharest at 22.00 hrs. The Friday flight leaves Bucharest at 13.30 hrs and arrives in Berlin-Schoenefeld at 14.45 hrs; the return flight from Berlin-Schoenefeld leaves at 15.30 hrs and arrives in Bucharest at 18.45 hrs.

Blue Air was founded in 2004 and is Romania’s leading budget airline. Blue Air currently offers flights to Belgium, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and Cyprus. The present fleet comprises five aircraft, the majority of which are Boeing 737s; the airline intends to buy a further three aircraft by the end of the year, bringing the total fleet to eight planes.
