The WISAG Group is one of Germany’s largest service holdings and it is headquartered in Frankfurt am Main. The Group has more than 24,000 employees in Germany, including around 2,400 in the Berlin-Brandenburg region; its divisions include Facility Management, Building and Industrial Engineering, Industrial Services, Building Cleaning Services, Security Services, Airport Services, Catering, Garden and Landscape Services and Consulting, all of which are leaders in their respective segments.
WISAG Airport Services is one of the Group’s most successful divisions. It operates at the airports in Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart and its 1,400 employees offer a range of services, including aircraft cleaning, cabin equipment, aircraft de-icing, push services, loading and unloading, handling, baggage sorting and aircraft monitoring. The acquisition of GGB sees WISAG rounding off its portfolio of products and services and becoming a full-service company for aircraft services.
Under the terms of the purchase contract, the WISAG Group agrees to commit to the Berlin location until at least the end of 2011. GGB’s existing wage agreements have been accepted and the Group has agreed to uphold the present employment security contracts until the end of 2012.
Berlin Airports’ CEO, Dr. Rainer Schwarz, stated: „The sale of GlobeGround Berlin to the fast-expanding WISAG Group represents the best option for all GlobeGround employees, all of whose jobs have been secured. Against the backdrop of a liberalised market the new owner will be focusing on preparing the company to face the challenges of the future.” Bernd Jacke, managing director of the WISAG Service Holding, added: “The acquisition of GlobeGround Berlin sees the WISAG Group systematically continuing its successful growth in the market for aircraft services. We are now a full-service provider in this segment, alongside the many other sectors we service. We are firmly convinced that the more than 40 years of experience we have in the service sector will be a valuable addition to Berlin Airports.”
