Berlin Airports reports soaring growth / Passenger growth at Tegel Airport increases by 11 per cent
In May 2008, a total of 1,922,422 passengers used Berlin’s three airports. This is a 9.2 per cent increase on May of last year.

In the past month, Schoenefeld Airport registered 598,758 passengers. This is a 6.4 per cent increase over the same month in the previous year. Between January and May 2008, a total of 2,429,682 passengers used the airport, a drop of 0.2 per cent against the same period in the previous year.

At Tegel Airport, 1,291,993 passengers used the airport in the month under review. This is an increase of 10.9% over the same month in the previous year. Between January and May 2008, 5,769,481 passengers used the airport, an increase of 16.7 per cent over the same period in the previous year.

Tempelhof Airport continues to reports declining passenger figures: in May the airport handled 31,671 passengers, which is a drop of 1.5 per cent. Between January and May 2008, 133,469 passengers used the airport, a decrease of 11.1 per cent over the same period last year.

The total number of flight movements in May was 26,267; this is an increase of 16.8 per cent.

Air freight increased by 12.7 per cent in the month under review.
