3rd AirportRUN – over 1,000 registrations already

25.06.2008
Running into summer via the BBI
On 29 June, Berlin Airports' 3rd AirportRUN starts in cooperation with SCC Running. So far, over 1,000 runners and power walkers have registered for the event. Runners can choose between a 10 km route or a half-marathon covering a distance of 21.0975 km (approx. 13.1 miles).

This time, the half-marathon takes runners from the starting line directly to the construction site and past the runways through Rotberg, Tollkrug and Selchow. Runners and power walkers opting for the 10 km route start around halfway along the marathon route and run towards the same finishing line on the administration site of Schoenefeld Airport, where an entertaining festival programme of live music, an awards ceremony and tombola awaits them. There's also something for visitors, too: it promises to be an eventful day for everyone with free tours of the construction site and attractions for children.

The 1,754 participants in the 2nd AirportRUN in 2007 took the opportunity to see Europe's biggest airport construction site close up.

Participants can register for the event as usual on the administration site of Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport, where the exact registration point will be signposted. Shuttle buses will be provided to take runners to the respective starting point.

The closing date for registration for the 3rd AirportRUN is 13/06/2008. Last-minute registrations will be taken on the day of the event from 7 a.m. onwards until shortly before the start at 9 a.m.
