Traffic figures for Berlin in April: robust in the crisis

In April, a total of 1,714,697 passengers were handled at the Berlin airports Tegel and Schoenefeld. This represents a year-on-year decrease of 3.9 per cent.
The trend in the first four months showed a 4.7 per cent drop in passenger figures from 6,410,210 to 6,108,085. Berlin is performing almost four per cent better than the national average in Germany, which was approximately 8.5 per cent from January through to April, and thus continuing the trend of recent years: Berlin is not following the national market trend in Germany.

In April, 535,481 passengers were recorded at Schoenefeld Airport. This result represents a 5.5 per cent increase.

1,179,216 passengers were handled at Tegel in the reporting month. This represents a year-on-year decrease of 5.4 per cent.

The total number of aircraft movements in April amounted to 18,892 take-offs and landings. This represents a year-on-year decrease of 15.2 per cent.

At 1,526 tons, air freight flown dropped by 17.4 per cent.

All values for this month are based on preliminary figures.
