Berlin to Phuket non-stop / Air Berlin extends network / New service to Thailand from Berlin
Berlin has a new long-haul service: on 1 November Air Berlin launched a new non-stop service from the German capital to the popular holiday destination of Phuket. The island with the eponymous capital city is famous for its endless, fine sandy beaches and attracts many tourists every year.

“We are delighted that Air Berlin has extended its network to include Phuket, a very attractive destination. Looking ahead to the new BBI, the continuous expansion of the service network makes the airline a very strong partner who will help us to establish the new Berlin Brandenburg International Airport as the gateway to the East”, stated Professor Dr Rainer Schwarz, Chief Executive Officer of Berlin Airports.

“This is a giant leap forward for Air Berlin: we are offering our customers more direct flights and more destinations in Thailand and our Thai passengers have the option of a second direct flight to our attractive capital city,” commented Matthias von Randow, Air Berlin’s Director Global Traffic Rights & Political Affairs. “We can assure our passengers that with Air Berlin you are choosing an airline that takes safety, the environment and climate protection very seriously indeed. We have one of the most modern fleets worldwide and Air Berlin’s carbon emissions are amongst the lowest anywhere.”

Air Berlin currently has a market share of around 30 per cent in Berlin. In the winter the airline flies regularly from Berlin to 50 destinations, including other long-haul services such as Bangkok, Punta Cana, Varadero and Berlin/Beijing as a codeshare with Hainan Airlines. In the past few yeas, Berlin Airports has continually expanded its long-haul network, and currently flies to nine destinations in this category:

Bangkok (Air Berlin) - Doha (Qatar Airways) - New York, JFK (Delta Air Lines) - New York EWR (Continental Airlines) - Beijing (Hainan Airlines) - Phuket (Air Berlin) - Punta Cana (Air Berlin) - Ulan Bator (MIAT Mongolian Airlines) - Varadero (Air Berlin)

The Air Berlin flight leaves from Berlin every Sunday at 15.05 hrs and arrives on the following day at 07.30 hrs in Phuket. The return flight leaves on Monday at 10.45 hrs and arrives at Berlin-Tegel at 15.10 hrs.
