“Discover Berlin in a flash” – the new-look online travel portal viaberlin.com

09.11.2009
Greater user-friendliness / Improved flight search / Offers and tips on planning your trip to Berlin
viaberlin.com, the online travel portal of Berlin Airports, has a new design, now making it even easier to find and book flights to, from and via Berlin directly via the website www.viaberlin.com. The website has also expanded its information and service offerings to include other travel planning options: by cooperating closely with Berlin Tourismus Marketing GmbH (BTM), users now have direct access to the event tips in the latest issues of “Berlin to go” and can purchase a BTM “WelcomeCard”online.

Three new sections:

Both the design and menu set-up were radically revised for the website relaunch. The new navigation concept includes three sections.

The search box under “Flights” gives travellers the option of planning all flights to, from and via Berlin individually and booking them directly online – be it with low-cost carriers such as Air Berlin, Germanwings and easyJet or traditional airlines such as Lufthansa, British Airways or Air France. A combination of different airlines is also possible.

The second section, “Discover Berlin”, comprises a wealth of tourist information on Berlin, clearly divided into four menu items:

  • “Event tips” offers an extensive range of music, theatre, art and cultural events as well as trade fairs and numerous other city attractions.
  • “Top addresses” – the tour guide of viaberlin.com: here you will find all you need to know about places of interest, shopping and restaurants in each district. A good basis for planning your very own trip to Berlin.
  • “MP3 audio tours” supplement the viaberlin.com tour guide with six downloadable tours on the city’s most significant and historical places of interest.
  • “Visitor offers” – here, travellers will find information and booking options offered by partners, such as the “WelcomeCard” or exclusive hotel accommodation, with top-class offers from the world of art and culture.

The third section, “Travel Services and Accommodation”, contains plenty of useful tips and offers for planning your stay in Berlin. Booking a hotel, hostel or holiday home in Berlin is easy via the online partner booking.com. The website also offers information on arrival and departure and local transportation under the menu items “Airport transfer”, “Car rental” and “Public transportation”. Travellers will also find plenty of information on the Berlin airports Schoenefeld and Tegel, and a guide to finding their way around.
