Deliberate misrepresentation on INFOradio
The rbb radio station INFOradio this morning broadcast reports of alleged irregularities during the tender process for “Ideen Konzeption Eröffnung Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg (BER) 2011” (Ideas Concept for the Opening of Berlin Brandenburg (BER) Airport 2011).

Berlin Airports categorically and robustly rejects these unfounded allegations.

The tender for “Ideen Konzeption Eröffnung Flughafen” comprises the following: 1) Ideas and concepts for the opening of Berlin Brandenburg International Airport. 2) An option to supervise and coordinate the implementation of this concept.

A fully transparent tender process was held and a large number of suitable companies were asked to submit concepts and cost estimates, thus ensuring that the competition was as broad as possible.

Berlin Airports has already awarded the contract to design a concept plus the option to supervise and coordinate this concept. The contract was awarded at a price that is significantly lower than the threshold for European procurement tenders for sector contractors, which is currently €387,000.

This contract does not include the general implementation of the opening events, for which Berlin Airports has set aside a budget of up to €2 million.

A letter containing all this information was sent to the responsible INFOradio editor yesterday evening. Berlin Airports reserves the right to take further legal action against this intentional misrepresentation.
