Mobile Food Stalls at Berlin Brandenburg Airport08.06.2011
Refreshments and variety all the way to the gates / Contract awarded for 15 sales units
The mobile food stalls – each 16m² in size – will be positioned inside the waiting areas at the gates, offering passengers the opportunity to enjoy quality delicacies and snacks right up to the moment they board their plane. Another sales stand will supply visitors on the observation terrace with food and beverages.
casualfood GmbH will be taking off at the new airport with four innovative concepts: Mayer`s Brezel, Hermann`s, Mondo und Natural:
- Mayer`s, a concept that has proved successful at Tegel Airport since 2007, offers fresh pretzels and sandwiches. The van design has now been optimised and the product range extended for the new airport.
- The Hermann’s food concept focuses on sausages and hearty snacks for every taste. In addition to regional sausage specialities, rissoles, the famous Spreewald gherkins and frankfurter sausages, Hermann’s also offers a wide selection of filled rolls.
- Mondo aims to please fans of the Italian way of life and serves foccacias, panninis, dolcis and picante, as well as hot espresso specialities.
- Natural is the latest concept from casualfood. It targets nutrition-conscious passengers looking for a quick, healthy snack at the gate.
The mobile sales stands complement the attractive gastronomic selection at the new airport, which ranges from fast food and “snacks to go” to exclusive business meals.
Dr. Norbert Minhorst, Head of Non Aviation Management at Berlin Airports: “In casualfood, we have found ourselves a highly professional and capable partner to provide the mobile units at the new airport, Berlin Brandenburg International. We were particularly impressed by casualfood’s great flexibility. With their winning combination of attractive product range, functional mobile units and corresponding brand profile, they unite the core competencies we were looking for. Not only are we here at Berlin Airports pleased about the partnership, we are also confident that the passengers will be delighted to find their various culinary expectations met.”
Stefan Weber, Managing Director of casualfood GmbH: “Berlin is a world-class city and that’s why we are especially proud to be taking our innovative gastronomic concepts to the new Capital City Airport, Berlin Brandenburg International. We look forward to continuing our successful partnership!”
The mobile food stall contract is not the only one awarded to casualfood GmbH, however, because last year the company was awarded two restaurant premises inside the terminal, as well. The “east side Berlin” concept combines food for the discerning palate with visual impressions of Berlin’s East-West history. The company’s Italian restaurant, Mondo, faces right onto the central marketplace. The contracts for all 25 restaurant premises were awarded by May 2010.
