Many visitors at the Airport’s Training and Study Day25.08.2011
There is a great interest in training and degree courses at the airport or with companies associated with aviation: around 2000 visitors – mainly secondary school students – came to today’s fair to find out about the many different professions, apprenticeships and degree courses on offer. Nearly 30 exhibitors, including Berlin Airports, Rolls-Royce Deutschland, airberlin and the federal police are interested in attracting potential candidates for their training and apprenticeship openings in 2012.
In addition to the typical commercial and technical training vocations, such as aviation administration assistant, aviation equipment technician and systems informatics technician, the visitors also received information about degree courses available at Wildau Technical University and Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus which provide a starting point for a career in aviation. Many hotels and food services companies, including Holiday Inn, Marché and Intercity Hotel, provided information about apprenticeship options in hotel, gastronomy and tourism management.
“The great interest in the Training and Study Day we organised together with Berlin Airports completely exceeded our expectations”, said Edelgard Woythe, chairwoman of the board of Agentur für Arbeit Potsdam. “For many young people an apprenticeship at the airport is an exceptionally attractive proposition, and particularly against the background of the expansion of the airport to become the new airport for the region.”
“Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt Airport will have 20,000 employees, making it the biggest employer in the region”, said Prof. Dr. Rainer Schwarz, Chief Executive Officer of Berlin Airports. “We are delighted at the great interest in jobs in aviation, one of the key industries of the future.”
