Overwhelming interest at the Job Recruiting event at BER01.11.2011
The response to the first of three Careers Fairs for the Recruiting Countdown for the opening of Berlin Brandenburg Airport was enormous. 5,000 visitors came to the airportworld to find out about openings at BER.
Numerous visitors to the Careers Fair “222 Days Until BER Opens” had to queue outside the airportworld, as the venue was not big enough for the large number of people who had come. Today’s Careers Fair, organised by Berlin Airports and Agentur für Arbeit Potsdam (Potsdam’s municipal employment agency), saw the starting shot being fired for the recruitment drive for new employees for Berlin Brandenburg Airport.
At the airportworld, 20 exhibitors presented over 400 positions in the non-Aviation sector, including McDonald’s Deutschland Inc., Gebrüder Heinemann and Holiday Inn. The companies are offering a wide range of openings, especially in the areas retail, food services and service at Berlin Brandenburg Airport. Edelgard Woythe, Chair of the Management Board of Agentur für Arbeit Potsdam: “We were expecting quite a good crowd at today’s Careers Fair, but the visitor numbers completely surpassed our expectations. With seven months to go before BER opens, there is an exceptionally great interest in jobs at the new airport.”
Prof. Dr. Schwarz, Chief Executive Officer of Berlin Airports: “Berlin Brandenburg Airport will have 20,000 employees, making it the region’s biggest workplace. Just how attractive the airport is as an employer was been impressively demonstrated by the incredible response to today’s Careers Fair. As the opening day comes closer the interest in jobs at BER will rise. In the coming months we will be organising two more Careers Fairs to offer jobs at the airport and in companies connected to the airport.”
