Airport job market gains momentum:21.03.2012
Strongest demand still in gastronomy and retail sector / Now also looking to recruit flight attendants, tourism staff and cleaning personnel / Job exchange now online on the preview of the new BER website
Jobs are available in a wide variety of business sectors. Some 300 vacancies are currently available in the gastronomy sector. The retail sector is looking to recruit an additional 200 employees. A major German airline is currently looking for 100 flight attendants. And tourism staff are also in popular demand – amongst others for the new Berlin Brandenburg WelcomeCenter. There are also opportunities for service personnel in baggage logistics.
All applicants must be able to speak English and preferably other foreign languages, work shifts and have a clean police clearance certificate in order to be able to work for the airport.
Knowledge of a foreign language is not, however, required of candidates interested in a cleaning only job.
"In order to take advantage of this new momentum for the Berlin-Brandenburg job market, we have once again expanded our team of airport employees", explained Edelgard Woythe. "The Berlin Brandenburg Airport Agency now comprises six agents who deal with several hundred requests from employers and employees every week."
"At today's careers fair we are presenting 700 vacancies that must be filled by 3 June", said Prof. Dr. Rainer Schwarz, CEO of Berlin Brandenburg Airport. "BER is already driving the local economy. With 20,000 employees, Berlin Brandenburg Airport will be the biggest workplace in East Germany."
An overview of airport jobs can be found online at http://jobboerse.arbeitsagentur.de by entering the job location "Schönefeld Airport". There are currently around 200 job offers listed.
The "Jobs and careers" section is now online on the preview of the new BER website. For comprehensive information on training, work placements, jobs and careers at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, please visit preview.berlin-airport.de and click on "Company".
